This one-day course is designed for those new to bat work. You will be given a comprehensive foundation to bat biology, ecology and conservation.

Course content includes:

  • Bat taxonomy
  • UK species, range and distribution
  • Bat species identification
  • Bat physiology including adaptations to flight, echolocation, energetics
  • Life histories including life-cycle, mating strategies, pup development, roost composition and requirements, social behaviour
  • Feeding behaviour
  • Bat conservation and threats

Prior knowledge: None

CPD: A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded that can be used as evidence for CPD. This course is approved by the Royal Society of Biology as 24 CPD points.

Cost: £170 in person (includes course materials and certificate, lunch and refreshments)
