Deall Symudiad yr Ystlum Pedol Leiaf ar draws y Ddinas / Understanding Lesser Horseshoe Movement across the City

Get involved with Swansea Bay Stars of the Night

Gyda help gwirfoddolwyr lleol, rydym yn cynnal monitro acwstig pasif mewn lleoliadau allweddol ar draws Abertawe i ganfod y llwybrau y mae'r ystlum pedol leiaf yn defnyddio i hedfan i mewn ac allan o'r Gŵyr lle maent yn clwydo. Mae gwaith modelu gan Ymddiriedolaeth Bywyd Gwyllt Vincent wedi nodi ardaloedd tywyll a gwyrdd sydd gan bosibilrwydd o fod yn 'pwyntiau sianelu', lle mae'r ystlumod yn dibynnu arnynt i drafaelio trwy ardaloedd adeiledig. Bydd ein harolwg yn edrych i weld a yw'r ystlumod yn defnyddio'r coridorau hyn. Bydd y canlyniadau yn cyfrannu at ffyrdd i ddiogelu'r llwybrau pwysig hyn er mwyn sicrhau bod yr ystlumod pedol leiaf yn parhau i allu cymysgu â phoblogaethau eraill.

With the help of local volunteers, we are undertaking passive acoustic monitoring at key locations across Swansea to locate the routes that lesser horseshoe bats are using to fly in and out of the Gower where they roost. Modelling work undertaken by the Vincent Wildlife Trust has identified dark, vegetated areas that are potential ‘pinch-points’ that bats rely on to navigate through built-up areas. Our surveys will look at whether lesser horseshoe bats are using these corridors. The results of which will better inform ways to protect these important routes to ensure bats are able to continue to mix with other populations.

Cysylltu Pobl â Natur Leol / Connecting People with Nature on their Doorstep

Ein nod yw gweithio'n agos gyda grwpiau a chymunedau lleol i ysbrydoli pobl i ailddarganfod a mwynhau natur yn eu milltir sgwâr, gan ganolbwyntio at gyrraedd grwpiau sy'n aml yn anghofiedig mewn gwaith cadwraeth natur. Trwy ddigwyddiadau cydweithredol, rydym yn gobeithio ysbrydoli pobl i ddarganfod rhyfeddodau'r awyr dywyll, y rhywogaethau cyffrous y maent yn eu cefnogi, a'r effeithiau gall llygredd golau cael ar ein bywyd gwyllt nosol. Bydd cyfleoedd hefyd i wirfoddoli mewn digwyddiadau a'n helpu i recordio ystlumod pedol leiaf.

We aim to work closely with local groups and communities to inspire people to discover and enjoy nature on their doorstep, with a focus on including groups which are often underrepresented in nature conservation. Through collaborative and engaging events we hope to inspire people to discover the worders of dark skies, the exciting species they support and the impacts light pollution can have on our nocturnal wildlife. There will also be opportunities to volunteer at events and help us record lesser horseshoe bats.

Can you help to lead bat walks, talks or man stands at events? There's opportunities for all experience ranges, there's no set time commitment and training can be provided.
