Natur am Byth yw prosiect blaenllaw Cymru ar gyfer adferiad rhywogaethau, sy’n dod â naw corff anllywodraethol amgylcheddol ynghyd gyda Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru (CNC), ac a fydd yn rhedeg o fis Medi 2023 tan fis Medi 2027.Mae’r trefniant cydweithio yn cael ei gydlynu gan CNC ac yn cynnwys partneriaid Rethink Nature (Cadwraeth Amffibiaid ac Ymlusgiaid (ARC), Ymddiriedolaeth Cadwraeth Ystlumod (YCY); Buglife, Ymddiriedolaeth Cadwraeth Gwenyn, Cadwraeth Pili Palod, Plantlife a’r RSPB) yn ogystal â’r Gymdeithas Cadwraeth Forol (MCS) ac Ymddiriedolaeth Bywyd Gwyllt Vincent. Gan mai ychydig dros hanner ei phlanhigion a’i hanifeiliaid sy’n dal i fodoli, a bod 17% o rywogaethau yng Nghymru dan fygythiad difodiant, mae Cymru’n un o’r gwledydd yn y byd lle mae natur wedi disbyddu fwyaf. Gan gydnabod y golled ddifrifol hon o ran bioamrywiaeth, cyhoeddodd y Senedd yn 2021 fod ‘argyfwng byd natur’ yng Nghymru.

Natur am Byth is Wales’ flagship species recovery project uniting nine environmental NGOs with Natural Resources Wales (NRW), which will run between September 2023 until September 2027. The collaboration is co-ordinated by NRW and consists of the Rethink Nature partners (Amphibian & Reptile Conservation, Bat Conservation Trust; Buglife, Bumblebee Conservation Trust, Butterfly Conservation, Plantlife and RSPB) with the addition of Marine Conservation Society and Vincent Wildlife Trust. With a little over half of its plants and animals remaining and 17% of species in Wales threatened with extinction, Wales qualifies as one of the most nature depleted countries in the world. In recognition of this severe biodiversity loss the Senedd declared a ‘nature emergency’ in Wales in 2021.

Sêr y Nos Bae Abertawe / Swansea Bay Stars of the Night

O fewn y rhaglen hon, rydyn ni’n arwain prosiect o’r enw Sêr y Nos Bae Abertawe, sy’n canolbwyntio ar ystlumod pedol leiaf. Yng Nghymru y ceir 61% o boblogaeth y Deyrnas Unedig o’r rhywogaeth hon. Ar benrhyn Gŵyr, credir bod yr ystlumod hyn yn cael eu hynysu’n enetig, wrth i’r ardal gael ei threfoli fwyfwy. Ein nod yw codi proffil yr ystlumod hyn a gweithio gyda chymunedau ac awdurdodau lleol i sicrhau eu bod yn gallu symud yn ddiogel trwy’r tirlun, trwy gynnal coridorau tywyll a chyflawni gwyddoniaeth dinasyddion i ddarparu tystiolaeth well o’r angen am wybren dywyll.
We are leading a project called Swansea Bay Stars of the Night, which puts the spotlight on lesser horseshoe bats. Wales holds 61% of the UK’s population of this species. On the Gower, these bats are thought to be becoming genetically isolated with urbanisation of the area increasing. We aim to raise the profile of these bats and work with local authorities and communities to ensure they can move safely through the landscape, maintaining dark corridors and carrying out citizen science to better evidence the need for dark skies.

Mae Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru wedi cyfrannu £1.7m ac mae partneriaid Natur am Byth wedi sicrhau £1.4m pellach gan Lywodraeth Cymru, Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru a nifer o ymddiriedolaethau elusennol, sefydliadau a chyfranwyr corfforaethol. Mae’r rhain yn cynnwys cyfraniadau gan Sefydliad Esmée Fairbairn, a chefnogaeth sylweddol o Gynllun Cymunedau Treth Gwaredu Tirlenwi Llywodraeth Cymru, sy’n cael ei weinyddu gan Gyngor Gweithredu Gwirfoddol Cymru (WCVA).
The partnership has budgeted total programme costs at £8m. Thanks to players of the National Lottery, we have secured £4.1m delivery phase funding from National Lottery Heritage Fund.
NRW has contributed £1.7m and the Natur am Byth partners have secured a further £1.4m from Welsh Government, Arts Council of Wales and a number of charitable trusts, foundations and corporate donors. These include donations from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, and significant support from Welsh Government’s Landfill Disposals Tax Communities Scheme administered by Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA).
