2017 was another successful year for the monitoring programme, with at least 770 volunteers taking part in summer surveys (roost count, waterway surveys and field surveys). We would like to thank everyone who has helped collect this important information, which enables us to produce population trends for the UK's bat species.

During the winter, licensed bat workers monitor hibernation sites around the UK and many of them kindly share their findings with the National Bat Monitoring Programme so that we can include the data in the species population trends we produce. So far this year we have received bat counts from at least 104 volunteers at 542 sites/compartments of sites.

Read on to see the species summary maps for each survey type.
