Have a batty bank holiday weekend!

European Bat Weekend is here again with wildlife enthusiasts and the general public alike gathering at batty events across the UK on bank holiday weekend 28th- 29th August.

European Bat Weekend is a celebration of bats co-ordinated in the UK by the Bat nservation Trust (BCT) each year, giving thousands of people across the country the chance to see and hear bats in their natural environment. Bat walks, illustrated talks, children's workshops and demonstrations and more have been organised by local bat groups, Wildlife Trusts, countryside rangers and others across the country, including bat walks in Buckinghamshire, bat box building in Scotland and bat crafts, talks and a bat treasure hunt at the flagship event at the Natural History Museum, London, see events for more details.

Kit Stoner, Deputy Chief Executive of the BCT said: European Bat Weekend is an ideal way for people to learn more bats, and to find out how they can help these truly amazing creatures. Bat walks are unique experience and I would urge everyone to go out and see and hear bats in their natural environment, it is exhilarating! Any sightings of bats made over the weekend can be shared online at the Big Bat Map! This interactive map lets you record sightings of bats flying in your area, see where bats have been seen all near you and look for bat hotspots.
