Dr Kayleigh Fawcett has published guidelines in association with BCT on Thermal Imaging for Bat Surveys. These are primarily intended for use by ecological consultants surveying for bats; however, the methods described can also be applied to bat conservation and research. The document is also intended to inform those assessing and evaluating the results of thermal imaging bat surveys, including local government ecologists, planning officers and government officials, among others. One of the aims of this document is to give stakeholders a better understanding of thermal imaging, and how it can and should be applied, in order to create meaningful survey results. The guidelines were updated in May 2021 and a copy can be found HERE.
