The Defra Net Gain consultation is seeking views on how the planning system in England can be improved to protect the environment and wildlife while creating better places to live and work. While we recognize that there is a clear and urgent need to increase housing stock and infrastructure, this needs to be balanced with stronger protection for the environment and ensure that wildlife thrives at the same time.
Bat Conservation Trust’s has submitted its response to the consultation and this can be accessed here. You can find a summarised version of the response here.
If you have expertise and/or experience in this area we would encourage you to respond to the consultation which can be accessed here.
BCT will be monitoring how the government takes this agenda forward.
