This International Bat Night (27th-28th August 2022), join our ecologist Emma Scotney at Burrator Discovery Centre from 5pm to 9pm on Sunday 28th August for a talk about UK bats, their ecology, conservation and our long-standing monitoring scheme at Burrator Reservoir. Find out why bat boxes and surveying for bats is crucial to looking after bat species before having a go at building your very own bat box that you can take home. (£1 per box, one box per person.) Complete your evening by experiencing the emergence of our resident population of lesser horseshoe bats where you will have the opportunity to learn more about these illusive creatures and use bat detectors to spot them! All equipment and guidance will be provided by our rangers on hand to answer all your bat questions. Please wear sensible closed-toe shoes, long trousers and dress appropriately for the weather. £1 per participant (adults and children) – under 18’s will need to be accompanied by a paying adult.
