Scottish Bats

Scottish BATS was set up by John Haddow (Central Scotland Bat Group Chair) and Jerry Herman (National Museums of Scotland) with the purpose of publishing articles which would have otherwise remained within notebooks, computer files or people’s heads.

Scottish BATS relied on contributions from bat enthusiasts from all over Scotland. Thanks go to all who contributed to this journal over the years and to John Haddow, David Patterson & Lyn Wells for editing and compiling the volumes.

Aims of Scottish BATS were:

  • To provide a publication outlet where bat workers, researchers and enthusiasts are encouraged to share their experiences and knowledge of bats in Scotland.
  • To help bring Scottish bat groups closer, assisting all groups to learn from each other through education, research and enjoyment.
  • To share our ideas and findings with a new audience outwith Scotland and the UK.
