Introduction to Bats

This course is aimed at those who are new to bats and would like to learn a little more. It comprises an afternoon of illustrated talks and workshops, with an optional evening bat walk (weather permitting), there will also be an opportunity to find out how to get more involved with bat conservation, both locally and nationally, if you wanted to.

Course content includes:

  • What is a bat?
  • Basic identification using specimens and keys
  • Introduction to bat detectors
  • How to get involved with bat conservation - locally and nationally
  • Optional bat walk

Prior knowledge: None

This course is usually run as an in-house course in response to requests from local bat groups, mammal groups, rangers, etc.
