Introduction to Thermal Imaging - 6 week online course

This introductory level course will show how you can improve your wildlife detection using thermal imaging technology. This six week, online course is designed for wildlife enthusiasts and professionals who want to see or hear more of wildlife.

Held over the course of 6 weeks, this programme has been developed in line with the most up-to-date Thermal Imaging: Bat Survey Guidelines. Weekly online sessions every Wednesday at 12:30pm UK time. Students are able to attend these sessions live, or catch up on the recording later.

Get Started! Thermal Imaging for Ecologists - 2 day, in-person course

This two day, in-person course, held at Wytham Woods, combines theory and practical sessions to get you started with thermal imaging technology for your ecology survey work (including bat surveys).

This training is designed specifically for professional ecologists who need to get to grips with this technology and is especially useful for those who need to implement these methods in line with the latest guidance for bat surveys: Thermal Imaging: Bat Survey Guidelines

You'll get hands-on experience with a range of equipment, a grounding in basic thermal science and the latest research as well as step-by-step guidance on image processing, thermal analysis, data handling and reporting results effectively.

Prior knowledge: No prior knowledge or experience of Thermal Imaging is required. It is assumed that participants will have a basic knowledge of bat ecology and will have attended Bat Ecology and Conservation or equivalent for other wildlife species.

CPD: A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded that can be used as evidence for CPD.
