Oak House, Derbyshire (original case study requiring update)
Demolition of existing residence and building replacement dwelling.
Conversion of redundant farm buildings for residential use with demolition of others; impacts to Day Roosts of six bat species, including Lesser Horseshoe. Bespoke mitigation included a dedicated Bat house, roost retention and new roost creation.
Work schedule to involve internal and external modification and modernization of the redundant Post Office House for shop and residential use. Impacts to a Brown long-eared bat satellite roost and Common Pipistrelle day roost(s) effectively protected and safeguarded during the works. Ongoing monitoring reveals a favorable status-quo.
Princess Mary's RAF Hospital (original case study requiring update)
Several buildings on site were scheduled for demolition, including one hosting roosts for common pipistrelle and brown long-eared bats. Purpose built roosts (e.g. bat boxes and bat barns) provided to compensate for roost removal.
Rapid response mitigation to noctule Nyctalus noctula roost damage in Milton Keynes
In 2009, a noctule Nyctalus noctula maternity roost (≤75 bats) was recorded in a tree, accidentally felled in 2011 over public safety concern. Rapid response mitigation returned a noctule maternity colony in 2012 and 2013. This case study exemplifies the need for sharing ecological data within organisations and third parties.
Re-roofing Doune Telephone Exchange (original case study requiring update)
Re-roofing project. The roof of the telephone exchange had deteriorated so renovation had become essential. This involved removal and replacement of tiles, roofing felt, fascias and soffits.
