Places of Worship Community Engagement Activities
Take a look at some of the ideas on the Bats in Churches website:
- This range of downloadable activities can be used for bat and heritage themed engagement with younger people. These can be added to existing church events, such as fetes, or included as part of a bat walk event.
- This short, online course might help you organise an event.
- Uniform groups (schools, Scouts, Cubs, Brownies etc.) could take advantage of a pack that helps them to take the Bats in Churches challenge badge. This contains activities for a range of ages and would be suitable for a church to suggest to a local uniform group as part of the community engagement criteria of the grant.
We also have some brilliant engagement ideas for going the extra mile for bats, and if you'd like to organise a bat event, your local bat group may be able to help.
It's also easy to set up your own bat evening. The Sunset Survey (April - October) brings you a perfect opportunity to get together with your community and discover bats and other wildlife in your local area. This is ideal for you if you don't have previous bat surveying experience. Just spend an hour from sunset (or before sunrise) and let us know what you see/hear from outside your place of worship. All the resources for this are available online too.
