Church Bat Detective survey materials

Over the next three years we need your help to carry out summer surveys, in order to learn more about bats use of churches across England.

These materials are for anyone taking part in Church Bat Detectives. If you haven't yet registered for the survey you can learn more about taking part here.

COVID-19 Notice

In these difficult times the health and well-being of our volunteers is our top priority. Churches are now re-opening and we feel we can safely resume the Bats in Churches Study in England, while following the latest government instructions to help control the spread of the virus. Below we set out our additional precautions for taking part this summer.

1. Survey instructions

Now that you've registered to take part and selected a church you're ready to prepare for your church survey. Before contacting your chosen church please read the survey instructions carefully.

2. Communication with your chosen church

You are now ready to contact a representative from your chosen church. You can find contact details through their own website (if they have one) or via www.achurchnearyou.com.

  • Email Wording. An email template for when you're sending your first message to your chosen church. Please do adapt this to make it more personal.

Most people will be surveying a Church of England site but if you're surveying a Churches Conservation Trust church please use this project letter. The best way to make contact is by emailing the regional teams using the information below.
