What is a podcast – and why should you listen?

If you’ve never listened to a podcast before, think of it like a radio show you can enjoy anytime, anywhere.

Whether you're out for a walk, cooking dinner, or relaxing at home, podcasts are a flexible and accessible way to learn, be inspired, and hear great stories. BatChat is free to listen to and available on all major podcast platforms, so you can tune in whenever it suits you. And you can use our interactive map to find the closest recording location to where you are.

For accessibility you can slow down, speed up, or pause episodes as needed. Many podcast apps also offer transcripts, making it easier for more people to enjoy.

Rosie Brooks, from Wildcare who sponsor the podcast, said: “We have been working with Steve Roe in his role as a professional ecologist for many years now, so when we were approached to sponsor the BatChat podcast we were excited for the opportunity. It aligns perfectly with Wildcare’s mission to support ecologists and conservation. Bats play a crucial role in our ecosystems, and we believe raising awareness through engaging discussions is a fantastic way to highlight their importance.”
