Our Green Match Fund campaign is raising funds towards supporting bat groups. Until Tuesday 29th April (midday), every donation up to £5,000 will be DOUBLED. This means we could raise a minimum of £10K which will make a huge difference to our work.
Don't miss this great opportunity to DOUBLE your donation to help bats and the people who help to protect them.
Strengthening the grassroots of bat conservation with Big Give’s Green Match Fund
We work closely with a network of 86 groups across the UK, who are united by their passion for bats, performing many essential activities in their local area. In fact, the Bat Conservation Trust was founded by bat groups over 30 years ago!

What are bat groups?
Bat groups are run by volunteers. They vary greatly in size, the way they operate and the activities they undertake - some groups are just a single individual, while others have hundreds of members.
They work independently from BCT, within their local communities, not only to raise awareness, through bat walks and other engagement events, but also by carrying out essential conservation work, like data collection, research and bat rehabilitation.
The work carried out by bat groups aligns with our strategic objectives:
- DISCOVER: Bat groups work to monitor bat populations, identify and address scientific evidence needs. Partnership working is vital to what we do and bat groups are involved in all our projects.
- INFLUENCE: Bat groups are a vital support network. They help to inform and lobby decision-makers about bats by writing to their elected representatives and speaking up for bats at every opportunity.
- ACT: Bat groups utilise our evidence-based information and guidance. They both benefit from the training we provide while many also run targeted training based on their areas of expertise or experience.
- CONNECT: Bat groups provide opportunities for members of their local communities to get involved in bat conservation in a variety of ways. This can include activities such as bat walks, talks, or participation in citizen science.
- STRENGTHEN: Bat groups work with BCT to make sure they have opportunities for everyone to get involved in bat conservation. They also raise thousands of pounds to fund key projects.

Support bat groups today
BCT has agreements in place with most bat groups and we support their fantastic work in many ways. From providing training, providing access to resources and guidelines, through to facilitating collaboration and project delivery and enabling bat groups to become more efficient and robust.
We are committed to continue supporting our partnership, and need your help to do so. Donate today and share our campaign widely. Remember we only have until the 29 April (midday) to raise a minimum of £10,000. Every donation up to £5,000 will be matched; subsequent donations will not be matched but they are still very much needed!
Do reach out to your local bat group and get involved in bat conservation!
