National Bat Conference 2015 - online bookings are now closed

University of Warwick 11-13th of September 2015

Online bookings for the National Bat Conference have now closed. Please contact the training team to check availability (020 7820 7165 / training@bats.org.uk).

The conference offers a chance to find out about the latest research, catch up with old friends from the bat world and make new friends too. This year's talks focus on "advances in surveying and monitoring" and "bat ecology" with plenary talks from leading bat experts Professor Kate Jones and Professor Gareth Jones to open each day's session of talks. There will be speakers from many different countries and institutions who will be updating us on cutting edge research and findings. For example, Erik Korsten from the Dutch Mammal Society will be talking about how to locate hibernating sites for common pipistrelles in cities. Do have a look at the programme to see all the other great talks. There will also be the presentation of the prestigious Pete Guest and Vincent Weir awards which will respectively recognise one individuals outstanding contribution to bat conservation and bat research.

In addition to our presentations programme, delegates can also attend a workshop on both Saturday and Sunday. There are seventeen workshops to choose from where you can learn new skills ranging from recognising the social calls of bats, radio tracking, dropping identification or even how to make a pompom bat. There are limited spaces for each of the workshops and some are filling up fast so do book as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment.

There will be an exhibition space open throughout the event where you can buy everything from bat detectors to bat clocks. There will also be plenty of opportunity for catching up with old and new friends after the day's events are complete - this includes a conference dinner and ceilidh on the Saturday night which is always good fun.

This year's major sponsors of the conference are Elekon, Pettersson and Wildlife Acoustics. There will also be an amazing raffle that will include prizes donated by Able and Cole, Bacardi, Geckoman bat sculptures and Bats Blood. There is also an extensive area of exhibitors.
