The Bracken Cave Reserve in the Texas Hill Country, USA is home to what is thought to be the world's largest population of bats. It is estimated that over ten million Mexican free-tailed bats roost in the cave complex and commute and forage in the surrounding area.
Now a 3,800 housing development is being proposed to the immediate south of the Bracken Cave Reserve. Bat Conservation International is calling on its supporters to raise their environmental and ecological concerns.
