Bruce Chisholm, aged 19, was convicted at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in March 2013 and fined £160 for killing or injuring a bat.

The incident took place at a British Legion Club in Aberdeen when a bat was found in the toilets and taken into the bar area on a dustpan. The bat was touched then took off and flew around the room where it was struck with a pool cue by Chisholm.

The matter was investigated by the SSPCA and prosecuted by the Scottish Procurator Fiscal Service. The Bat Conservation Trust provided advice to the specialist wildlife crime prosecutor and we are grateful to SSPCA and the prosecutors.
