This inspiring, in-person course combines indoor classroom sessions with a 2.5 hour, interactive site visit exploring and discussing the woodlands and their management and supporting attendees to develop their understanding of the theory and practice of managing woodlands for bats.
Led by BCT's Woodland Specialist, Sonia Reveley, there will be ample opportunity to ask questions and glean valuable insights from Sonia's knowledge and experience. Invaluable CPD if you are a professional woodland manager or enthusiastic woodland owner.
The theory portion of the course covers the needs of bat species in a woodland habitat, outlines woodland management recommendations, shares potential roost feature recognition as well as an overview of the relevant legislation, empowering course attendees to make informed and beneficial decisions about the management of their own woodlands in the future. It will also signpost participants to good practice guidance on how to check your woodland for protected species and how you should operate when they are present to maintain the health of your trees, ensure the safety of woodland users as well as supporting the wildlife that lives there.
