Surveying Bridges
This one-day course will allow participants to build on knowledge gained at other courses, and will provide an understanding of bridge structures and the techniques needed to survey them effectively. The course will start with theoretical classroom sessions and finish with a visit to a local bridge(s) for the practical exercise.
Course content includes:
- Bridge construction terms
- Equipment needed to survey
bridge effectively and safely - Use of bridges by bats
- Identification of potential
roost sites - Mitigation and pitfalls
- Practical exercise at bridge(s)
Prior knowledge: It is assumed that participants will have attended Bats and Bat Surveys and Surveying Buildings, or have the equivalent skills and knowledge. If you are unsure about whether this course is the appropriate level, please email Helen Miller at BCT.
