Surveying Barns
This one-day course will allow participants to build on knowledge gained at other courses, and will provide an understanding of barn structures and the techniques needed to survey them effectively. The course will comprise some theoretical classroom sessions and a visit to a local barn for the practical exercise.
Course content includes:
- Barn construction terms
- Equipment needed to survey a barn effectively and safely
- Use of barns by bats
- Identification of potential roost sites
- Mitigation and pitfalls
- Practical exercise at barn
Prior knowledge: It is assumed that participants will have attended Bats and Bat Surveys and Surveying Buildings, or have the equivalent skills and knowledge. If you are unsure about whether this course is the appropriate level, please email Helen Miller at BCT.
