Ring Sizes

A list of ring sizes for UK bat species is included in the chapter on ringing and marking bats (Table 6.1) in the Bat Workers Manual (3rd edition) 2004.

Another list of which ring sizes are appropriate for UK (and European) bat species can be found as an Appendix to the Resolution No. 4.6 from the 4th Session of the Meeting of the Parties to EUROBATS in 2003.

Found rings

When we are contacted by someone who has found a ringed bat we inform the original purchaser of the ring (where we have a record of the purchase). If the bat has been found dead we request that the body is sent to the original purchaser of the ring, if required. If the body is not required by the original purchaser of the ring we will request that the bat is sent to the Animal & Plant Health Agency.

For more information please contact Parvathy Venugopal at NBMP@bats.org.uk (note Parvathy doesn't deal with ring sales).
