NBMP Training

Through the National Bat Monitoring Programme, BCT runs a number of different surveys to monitor population trends in different bat species throughout the United Kingdom. To encourage new volunteers, and assist more experienced volunteers to refresh their skills, we run introductory workshops in using bat detectors, so that you will be able to take part in our surveys.

Online NBMP Survey Tutorials

Visit our online training sessions to guide you through all the steps to taking part in the NBMP Field Survey and Waterway Survey. Images, sound and video illustrate the techniques and skills you will need to join in and count bats using your bat detector. Whether you are a new volunteer or have surveyed for us before, these training session will give you handy tips on using your detector and explain how you can help us to monitor four UK bat species at the same time.
