How to Organise and Lead a Bat Walk
The workshop is intended to provide training and practical experience in organising and leading a bat walk. It will give participants who are relatively new to bats a basic introduction to their biology, ecology and ID, in order that they can answer basic questions from the public, as well as learning about how to plan and run the bat walk itself. It will be useful for bat groups, rangers, wildlife trusts and other people who wish to run bat walks but have not done so before.
Course content will include:
- Basic intro to local bats and tips on ID
- Identifying a good route
- Health and safety
- Using bat detectors
- Practical - bat walk
Prior knowledge: Not assumed, although some basic experience of bats would be useful.
