The Bat Conservation Trust runs the National Bat Helpline, providing information to anyone needing advice on issues relating to bats.

Before calling the Bat Helpline, you may be able to find your answer by following one of the links below.

• I have found a bat on the ground

• There is a bat flying around inside a building

• I have discovered a bat whilst carrying out building work

• I have seen a bat flying during the day

• There is a bat hanging on an outside wall

• I keep finding bats in my house

• I think I have bats roosting in my house

• I need to do building/remedial work that may affect a bat roost

• I need to treat flies/vermin in my roof

• I know of a roost or of habitat that is under threat

From October-April (non-peak season): Monday-Friday: 9am-5.30pm
From May-September BCT the Out of Hours Helpline is also available in the evenings and on weekends. Please note, the out of hours helpline is run by volunteers and is for emergency calls only.

The Bat Helpline receives almost 10,000 enquiries each year, from a diverse range of people from building and planning professionals to householders and teachers. Thousands of bats and their roosts are conserved each year through the National Bat Helpline, and the many members of the public who seek advice on how to help bats.

Volunteer for the Bat Helpline

Thousands of bats are saved and people helped thanks to the hard work and dedication of hundreds of volunteers, from bat carers who rehabilitate injured bats, to roost visitors who help homeowners with bat roosts and volunteers that man the Out of Hours Helpline in the summer.
