The index is currently 22.7% above the 1999 base year value, equivalent to an annual increase of 1.2%. The smoothed index value rose between 1999 and 2006, but since then has be relatively stable. It was significantly higher than the baseline year, by a very small margin, between 2005 and 2008, but there is currently no significant difference between the smoothed index in comparison to the 1999 baseline year.

Data from 115 sites contribute to the trend analysis in Scotland.
