Bat detectors and sound analysis- level two
Target Audience: Ecological consultants- Intermediate level
This one day is aimed at consultants, advanced amateurs or graduate students using time expansion equipment and builds on the skills and knowledge acquired in Bat Detectors and Sound Analysis- level one. This course is for those whith a good understanding of bat detector survey tools and techniques to aid in undertaking professional bat surveys and interpreting results.
Course content will include:
- Advanced species identification
- Equipment and techniques for surveying and identifying bats from their echolocation calls
- Case-studies to illustrate different survey techniques
- Choosing optimum survey equipment and methods
- Statistical techniques
Prior knowledge: Participants should have built up a good working knowledge and experience of the use of bat detectors proir to the course. Although focused on time-expansion, the principles will also be of use to those using Anabat or frequency division techniques.
Equipment: Laptops and any recordings that participants have made.
