Species factsheet; Distribution and abundance

Special Areas of Conservation designated for barbastelle are monitored through the Woodland Survey. Data on barbastelle are also collected from a small number of Hibernation Survey sites but currently there is insufficient data to produce a robust population trend.

 


Distribution and abundance

Barbastelle is uncommon in England and Wales. It is absent from Scotland and Northern Ireland.
