Experimental EBLV study published online

23 October 2008

The experimental study of European bat lyssavirus type-2 (EBLV2) infection in Daubenton's bats (Myotis daubentonii) has now been published in the Journal of General Virology Online.

Johnson, N (2008) Experimental study of European bat lyssavirus type-2 infection in Daubenton's bats (Myotis daubentonii) Journal of General Virology 89, 2662-2672

The stated aims of this study were to assess the virulence, dissemination and likely means of transmission of EBLV2, a rabies-like virus, between insectivorous bats under experimental conditions.

A summary highlighting key findings and implications from the paper will be available on the Defra website in the coming weeks.  BCT will circulate this as soon as it becomes available.
