In 2014, Dr Stacey Waring was successful in securing additional funds to continue her work researching the impacts of breathable roofing membranes (BRMs) on bats; continuing to investigate the issues, monitor potential remedial actions and identify alternative approaches.
Bat Conservation Trust will continue to work closely with a number of government agencies and statutory nature conservation bodies (SNCBs) in order to develop guidance on this issue, with input from Dr Waring as her research progresses.
Any further information BCT receives will be shared online at www.bats.org.uk as it is made available to us.
The findings and key recommendations from the original research can be found here on BCTs webpage: http://www.bats.org.uk/pages/breathable_roof_membranes.html
This page will be updated as and when significant results become available.
